Looking for a great way to spend some summer days along the Lake Michigan lakeshore?
Look no further than Downtown Muskegon – and, of course, the surrounding areas.
While we hope to see all of you for duckpin bowling, dinner, and drinks at Socibowl, there is more than enough to do in the Muskegon area to turn your trip into a multi-day stay.
Good Eats
We are certainly partial our own food menu at Socibowl (from pizza and wings to burgers and salads – we’ve got something for everyone), but we also know that variety is the spice of life!
In Downtown Muskegon, you’ll find great food options including:
- Nipotes (incredible Italian in a shipping container restaurant)
- Early Owl (good food for all times of the day)
- TopShelf Pizza & Pub (classic pizzas and subs)
- Capones (pizza and Italian with a speakeasy vibe)
- The Lake House (upscale American fare with water views)
- Carlisle’s (nice American fare inside the hockey arena)
- Rad Dad’s (tacos and tequila)
- Dr. Rolf’s (great BBQ)
- Hamburger Mikey’s (award winning creative burgers and fries)
- Curry Kitchen (delicious Indian offerings)
- The Brewer’s Lounge (rotating food trucks and a great tap list of craft beer)
Travel towards the beach and be sure to stop at the Deck (great BBQ with incredible views) and Dockers (seafood and relaxing vibes on the water). Want a quick sandwich for lunch? You can never go wrong with Fatty Lumpkins!
Fun
No matter the time of year, there are always plenty of things to do in downtown Muskegon! Of course, we have to mention the great entertainment at Socibowl. Whether you’re looking for duckpin bowling, indoor yard games, or classic arcade games and pinball, there’s no shortage of fun here.
But there is also so much more to do during a trip to Muskegon! A few of our favorite options include:
- Michigan’s Adventure, the state’s largest theme park
- The Downtown Farmer’s Market (second largest in Michigan!)
- Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park – zip line, summer luge, and more
- Live music can frequently be found at the Pigeon Hill Brewer’s Lounge, The Deck, Dockers, Unruly Brewing, and Rake Beer Project
- Incredible museums and historic homes including the Lakeshore Museum Center, The Hackley & Hume Home, and the Muskegon Museum of Art
- Historic WWII ships – Both the LST 393 and the USS Silversides are incredible glimpses into naval history
Festivals
Summer is festival season in Muskegon! Whether you are looking for art, music, or food, there’s a festival that will check the boxes.
A few of the most popular festivals include:
- Parties in the Park – Live music, drinks, and fun in Hackley Park most Fridays throughout the summer
- Taste of Muskegon – Enjoy culinary delights from local restaurants
- Lakeshore Art Festival – Good fun and art in the sun
- Electric Forest – Incredible music meets an unforgettable experience
- Great Lakes Surf Festival – A great day of fun on the beach
- Burning Foot Beer Festival – Music, bands, and beer – all on the beach
- Michigan Irish Music Festival – Incredible music, food, and vendors
Relaxation
After you’ve had your fill of fun, food, and drinks, don’t forget to relax a bit. If you like to relax in a more urban setting, there are plenty of patios in downtown Muskegon (we’re particular to the one at Socibowl, but don’t forget to check out all the others!). To escape the hustle and bustle, be sure to spend some time enjoying our natural beauty. Great places to pass a more relaxing day include:
- Pere Marquette Beach – Probably the best in Michigan!
- PJ Hoffmaster State Park – Great hiking trails and beach
- Muskegon State Park – Wonderful hiking and great views of Lake Michigan
- Bike Trails – There are bike trails everywhere! Enjoy the lakeshore or head inland and make a trip to neighboring cities on two wheels.
